Lion Statue Heads - Specialist Pathway (Collab)

Lion Statue - Collab

A colleague and friend of mine modelled this lion head in Maya and Zbrush, and did the UVs himself, before offering me the mesh to texture. Happy to oblige and enjoying texturing, I exported the mesh to Adobe Substance 3D Painter and made him two versions to choose from: a golden, and a stone one.
I chose to keep this texturing as my Specialist Pathway project, which is currently texturing.
Bearing in mind this is for an interior scene, all his own concept he is currently developing, I focused more on the aging of the material over the debree it would come into contact with in an outdoors scene - therefore, they are quite simple textures. However, I worked hard on the subtler details, subtle wear on the edges and handpainted dust and debris from what will be the ceiling of this indoors scene. Cracks in the stone, accumulated dirt in the hard to reach crevasses, mostly handpainted in both versions, all contributed to the neglected look of two statues that haven't been cleaned in a while.

Two more renders for each version along with three texture maps with details can be found below.

Finally, a few screenshots of the scene the statues and my textures were used in, entirely built on Unreal Engine 5 by my colleague who modelled the mesh.
